Docklands is the third of my 20 tracks to be released.
ABOUT THE TRACK
Docklands is a fictional circuit inspired by the 1983 layout of Snetterton Kart Track, Norfolk, UK.
The track is 'inspired' and not a 100% representation. Snetterton was a tight narrow track lined by tyre walls with no run-off. It has been scaled up for cars, and set as a fictional street circuit in London's Dockland area.
Genuinely didn't like driving this track when i first built it, however, once I'd learnt the racing line i found it's actually good to drive. Can get pretty intense especially when the front tyre deg starts to cause understeer.
OPTIONAL installation is the Animations folder.
Open your GameData folder, save a copy of your animations folder n a safe file. Then and paste the optional Animations folder, yes to all.
If you install this it will overwrite one of the animated spectators M-Fanbloke2 replacing his FANMALE4.dds street clothes with a Marshal's suit.
If you do not install the optional animations folder then some trackside marshals will appear in normal clothes.
KNOWN ISSUES
Bridge shadows are not falling on cars.
Announcer and Crowd sounds
One replay TV Cam facing wrong direction.
Should you have issues with anti aliasing l recommend Shovas' instruction guide HERE
ABOUT THE PROJECT
GTR2 is the only game / sim i have. I did not consider myself a 'gamer' before I discovered GTR2 and as someone who used to race i fell in love with A. the SIM aspect and B. the ability to 'mod'
The track is built in Bobs Track Builder, then edited in 3DsimED. Thanks to Brendon and Dave for those user friendly software.
I use a combination of photoshop, illustrator, and paint.net to do textures and skins.
Sketch up and Blender for some 3D modelling.
I knew nothing about modding before embarking on this project and it's all been a matter of 'self taught' with a lot of help from members of the NOGRIPFORUM and RACEDEPARTMENT
I began building 20 new unique original tracks as part of a collection designed for my fictional JCW MINI COOPER Racing Series, and HOT HATCH Championships. The tracks are all fictional, though several are inspired by UK Kart Circuits, scaled up for cars, with some artistic license in terms of layout and elevations. Two are inspired by sections of real world circuits, all blended together, and one is based on the Millbrook Proving Ground.
The 20 tracks were v1.0 completed between 2021 and 2022.
During 2022 I spent a lot of time tweaking AIW files, adding in ANI flag marshals, and upgrading the textures to HQ.
I have created a lot of original textures for my track builds. An emphasis on 'localizing' trackside billboards, and environment textures.
Some objects are original builds by myself, others are downloaded from 3D model stock sites, many are from widely available Xpacks, and some have been imported from other track models. No offence to the original creator of those models.
When i started this project it was only intended for my own personal use, but as I've gone on and my track builds have got better, I've decided to release them to share.
