[Update 1.1: the choppers have now been added to a new separate track layout to avoid online checksum errors with the original Spa layout. The integrity of the original Kunos models.ini will be restored with this download in case you downloaded the previous version. Thanks to @LilSki for the suggestion and yep, I should have done it this way in the first place. Mea culpa.]
Not for the purists.
I've dotted a bunch of helicopters at strategic positions around Spa, all probably in violation of common sense and Civil Aviation Authority regulations. You probably won't even see half of them unless you're in an open-topped car. One heli even has Sky Sports branding if you use the included track skin. Speaking of which, this has billboards and stuff, van branding, and even a new medical centre logo. And there's a couple of balloons too. Kunos already included a config for these at Spa, but no models. Until now.
To install: unzip the file to the Tracks folder and overwrite when prompted. The zip file should also be installable by the normal Content Manager drag 'n' drop method. Select the 'Alt Billboards' skin from the track select menu in Content Manager.
As always, thanks to @Gunnar333 for help with the heli models.
Important: the animated helicopters need 'stFlow Shader' by Stereo to work:
https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/stflow-shader.23999/
The kn5s that were added during the installation are:
Balloons: 11, 12 (delete these models to remove the balloons)
Helicopters: bluefly, hughesfly, yellowfly and yellowstandslow.
You can remove individual helicopters (if you can identify them) by editing the models_spa_choppers.ini, but make sure the model numbering remains sequential with no gaps. For reference,
[MODEL_6]
FILE=yellowfly.kn5
… is the yellow one at the beginning of the start/finish straight.
The rest should then follow a numerical sequence around the track, but don't forget the one in the field with the slowly rotating blades.
If you do delete any, remember to renumber the models so they follow a sequence [MODEL_6], [MODEL_7], [MODEL_8] etc.
