The other Bugatti 'tank'. Winner of the 1937 Le Mans.
Requires the 1923 driver model. Most of the technical info is from the book 'Bugatti Type 57 Grand Prix - A Celebration' by Neil Tomlinson, which was handy for some visual details too, although my main visual references were pictures of the surviving car that's currently in the Simeone Museum. Someone did try contacting the museum on my behalf for info but they didn't seem too keen on providing any.
I've tried to get as close to the Le Mans car as I could but I know that there are some features where I've had to take references from the modern car that were different in the original, the dashboard being one.
Technically, I've used everything I could find out, but there's still the usual guesswork in some areas. A lot of sources on the web claim that the car was capable of producing 200 bhp, but according to the book it was tuned down to around 166 bhp for the Le Mans race and it's highest recorded output was 183 bhp (IIRC ). The red-line isn't mentioned anywhere that I could find, so even though the tacho goes up to 8000 rpm and the book describes the engine as 'high revving', I've set it at 6000 rpm for now, damage kicks in at 6200 rpm.
Anyway, hope you enjoy it, I've included a couple of 4k textures for the above livery, there's 2k ones as well if you find the 4k too large but they're a bit rough around the edges. There's the usual national colours too.
-cockpit canopy is removable in set-up
-dashboard lights switch on with 'Extra Option A' in Content Manager
-CSP exhaust smoke in extension/ext-config.ini
-sound from actual type 57s, I half like it and half don't
-rainfx compatible data in 'rainfx_data' folder
-working lights, let me know if they're ok, first time messing with lights, they seem ok but what do I know.
Let me know if I've forgotten anything, typing this while my cat meows in my ear because he's not feeling well (he's off to the vet in a while), so it's quite possible. Constructive criticism always welcome.
Have fun,
Liam (Nicecuppatea)
Cat update: He's fine now, think he's a little hungover because he was absolutely off his gourd on cat drugs when he came back from the vets. Seems to have a little infection which flares up randomly, nothing serious but he gets a bit distressed when it happens, horrible when you can't do anything to reassure them.
