Thanks to the brilliant creators of CSP, the game is finally playable for fellow padders. I am relatively new to the game myself, and almost gave up until coming across Console FX by the amazing modder Geraint Thomas. The fantastic feel of his script inspired me to mod it further, giving birth to Arcade FX. However, I have 0 knowledge in coding, let alone LUA, so the journey has been a struggle.
Ultimately, my version aims to offer an arcady feel, making driving intuitive and video-game-like while still being able to enjoy the great physics of AC. In comparison to Console FX, my Grip version has a different sense of control, less auto counter-steer, and adapts to each type of drivetrain, with dozens of new features I spent a lot of time implementing.
However, if you are looking for the challenge of realism or a very light assist , this is NOT for you. For those who've transitioned to AC from years of arcade racing, this may be your jam.
HOW TO PLAY
1. Recommended to play with Kirby Chase Cam https://www.racedepartment.com/threads/kirbycam-chaser-cam-for-custom-shaders-patch.209427/ as steering wheel movement is not directly representative of input due to strong assist.
2. Stick-roll: Steer by pushing the stick forward the whole time, kinda rolling it against the sides.
3. If you insist on having the wheel visible, it is recommended to set rotation somewhere between 120 - 180 degrees.
SWITCH MODES
D-pad "down" button switches between grip mode and drift mode.
INSTALL
1. Drag'n drop the "extension" folder in the zip file into your AC root directory (usually steam - steamapps - common - assettocorsa)
2. Activate FX: Content Manager settings -> Custom Shader Patch Tab -> Gamepad FX (among the long list on the left) -> Tick "Active" and select from "Script Used"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Special thanks to CHENG @yihsin and @tilbakestaend for being extremely helpful in the process and also doing some of the demo driving. Big shout out to @Geraint Thomas for Console FX and @Akeyroid7 for the fantastic base script of it and to all the testers who have pointed me toward the right direction.
