AC GPK Jeddah
(2024 update version 3.0)
2024 Update version 3.0
All GPK tracks for the FSGP 2024 season will get an update (and will go to version 3.0). This year we introduce pit stops in every FSGP race. So we took a close look at every pit exit and in case it was not safe enough we changed it into a safer pit exit. On some tracks this means quit a change to the pit exit and on some tracks (as Jeddah) it is only a white line on the track at the pit exit.
All trees and lights have an update for better looking and better FPS.
Special thanks to @Ofitus21 and @zuno toto for doing all the hard work for these 2024 updates.
FSGP 2024
During every Formula 1 weekend in 2024 we organize a FSGP race in the MAD Formula MFT02 on the GPK version of the Formula 1 circuit. The start of this championship is on Saturday 2 March. Information can be found at simracing.gp Formula Student community.
In 2024 we introduce pit stops in every race!
The track
The builders of the Jeddah Corniche Circuit talked about a street circuit, but it is different from most street circuits in two respects. You often drive on a street circuit from intersection to intersection with dead straights and 90 degree bends. But in Jeddah no public roads are used, the circuit was built especially for F1. It's a series of rolling high-speed corners and medium-speed corners complemented by slow chicanes. Driving is also done under artificial light. All this makes Jeddah a very special track on the F1 calendar, and of course the GPK version has it all.
Grand Prix Karting
Grand Prix Karting tracks are F1 tracks with the layout of the original F1 track but the size, look and feel of real world karttracks. Usually they have no big runoff areas, but modern wide kerbs, pit not on the infield but on the outside of the track, and a pitbuilding which is also a grandstand. These tracks are not a resized conversion of existing tracks but scratch build. Not laser scanned (because they are fiction) but handmade, which was a bit of a challenge with some tracks with a lot of elevation in the track and the terrain surrounding the track. Some GPK tracks (like this GPK Jeddah) are a bit different, they are closer to the real track instead of to a karting track.
The Assetto Corsa GPK tracks are dedicated for Formula Student and the rFactor GPK tracks are dedicated for karting.
