This is a mod designed to accurately replicate the 2016 F1 season using the Database Editor, with all drivers on the grid at the time, along with the high-profile feeder series and junior drivers of the era portrayed in their 2016 selves.
The player starts as a created team (Manor), although I believe if you want to start as a different team you can use the F1 Manager Save Browser (https://save.f1setup.it/) and use the "Switch Team" option.
Calendar
The calendar is mostly accurate to the real-life 2016 schedule with a few substitutions for tracks that aren't in the game:
The Russian Grand Prix at Sochi has been replaced by the Miami International Autodrome as the tracks are fairly similar and geographical location makes no difference in the game.
The German Grand Prix at the Hockenheimring has been replaced by Zandvoort as it is the only other suitable European venue not utilised on the 2016 calendar in the game apart from Imola.
The Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang International Circuit has been replaced by Losail, as the tracks are in a similar region (Asia) and their characteristics are fairly comparable too.
Drivers and their Ratings/Contracts
The driver lineup follows the early 2016 season, meaning Rio Haryanto drives for Manor instead of Esteban Ocon.
I have adjusted all the ratings of drivers that exist in the vanilla database that were prominent in 2016, as well as altering the identities of countless vanilla F3 drivers that are unlikely to play a part in most saves.
All drivers who took part in a Grand Prix from 2013-2020 are included, along with all that took part in Free Practice during 2016 and anyone in an academy.
I adjusted each drivers' stats and ratings on a mix of where they were at in their career up to 2016 (particularly for junior series drivers), and my own personal assessment of their talent.
If you disagree with a rating, feel free to let me know so I can see if I made a mistake, so I can update the mod to your guys' liking.
Every driver assigned to a team either on a full-time basis or by affiliate status has had their contract details automatically filled out by the Editor, as exact details from the time are hard to come by.
The only exception to this is Rio Haryanto, whose salary with Manor is $-15,000,000 (he pays the team 15 million).
This is because he was a pay driver in real life, and while that moniker was attributed to the likes of Jolyon Palmer and Marcus Ericsson too, I could not find definitive sums they paid for their seats, so they have automated salaries.
Notable GP2/F2 and GP3/F3 talents have been included to give a proper feeling of 2016, meaning that it is a reduced but still very healthy driver pool.
Please also note that due to limitations with the Database Editor, some driver's nationalities and race numbers may be incorrect.
Prominent examples include Pastor Maldonado being Colombian and Rio Haryanto being Singaporean, while Pascal Wehrlein does not race with the number 94.
Furthermore, I have limited experience with the development of drivers below the age of 16, so anyone below that may grow very quickly and become overpowered in a few seasons
If this is the case I will update this mod, just let me know so I can fix it.
Performance and Cars/Engines
The teams' cars and engines have been adjusted to their 2016 performance, although their identities are unchangeable.
The 2016 versions of each outfit correspond with their real-life lineage to 2024, so for example Aston Martin represents Force India and VCARB is Toro Rosso.
All teams have been updated to their 2016 engine suppliers, with custom units supplied by Honda (for McLaren) and "Old Ferrari" depicting the 2015-spec engines Toro Rosso used in 2016.
I think that covers everything the mod has changed, if there's anything I've missed, feel free to ask.
Otherwise, download the save file, and extract/copy and paste it into the following file destination:
