Changelog

Physics
  • reworked tires extensively (thanks Arch & @mclarenf1papa )
  • adjusted brake heating
  • adjusted maximum braking force again

Extended Physics
  • reworked tire heating (thanks again, guys)

This update brings our latest "tire model" to the WRX with a whole new set based on the same work we've been doing with the NSX tires over the past couple weeks. These are, so far, easily the most convincing tires we've made.

As for the constant brake force tweaks, don't worry about those. I'm just sort of following the available grip as the tires change. Setting the maximum number is somewhat arbitrary anyway, it's still well below what a very strong human could produce in the real car, so no harm done.
Changelog

UI
  • fixed version number in UI

Sigh. We're good now.
Changelog

Download Package
  • added the custom font back to the zipfile - be sure you get your folder structure sorted and installed properly

Physics
  • fixed typo in tire flex
  • adjusted brake power a little bit more

Extended Physics
  • no changes

This update brings the custom font back to the download file (oops) and corrects a typo in the tire data. I also took a little bit more off the max brake power so they aren't quite so eager to get into ABS.
Changelog

3d

  • nothing

Physics
  • updated side aero (thanks Arch)
  • reworked tire optimum pressures
  • small adjustment to body inertia
  • adjusted brake power slightly for new tires
  • adjusted AI

Extended Physics
  • updated to cphys tires & tire heating (thanks Arch)
  • updated to cphys suspension forces (EX=2)
  • updated to cphys SAT (thanks again Arch)
  • active CSP version at release: v0.1.75 Public

This update brings extended physics features to the car. For the most part it's about the tires, replacing the vanilla heating system with one that obeys the laws of thermodynamics & taking advantage of some features we just don't have in vanilla.

You will likely find the tires harder to keep in the optimum temperature zone - just like the real car, this one now eats front tires for breakfast. It's a little livelier out of its "zone" and a little sharper inside it. Definitely a different driving experience. Your laptimes will probably drop slightly, but we took care to scale these with the vanilla version so it won't be a massive change. I'm within about a second @ Nords between the two branches.
Changelog

3d

  • nothing

Physics
  • updated side aero (thanks Arch)
  • reworked tire optimum pressures
  • small adjustment to body inertia
  • adjusted AI

This will be the "final" update for this car using vanilla AC physics. Further updates will begin at v2.0 and will require CSP physics. (Unfortunately it's not backward-compatible so we do what we have to do.)

"Final" is obviously in quotes because in the event something breaks, the 3d changes, or or we learn a sufficiently important new physics thing I will obviously update the vanilla branch accordingly. Plenty of room between v1.26 and v1.99 to work with.

This is presently about as much as I can do without cphys, though.
Changelog

3d

  • fixed all paint colors, now correct in current CSP (0.1.71)
  • fixed headlights, now correct in current CSP (0.1.71)
  • converted odometer to display in miles
  • converted temperature display to read in Fahrenheit
  • converted clock to display time in 12h format
  • sorry, not sorry

Physics
  • increased damper adjustment step sizes slightly
  • reworked tire longitudinal load curves & made related adjustments
  • recalculated global ARB "bushing factor" slightly
  • implemented damage in suspensions.ini (oops)

Miscellaneous
Changelog
Changelog

3d

  • circumnavigated weird brake caliper/wheel blur draw order bug
  • fixed wonky passenger wiper
  • adjusted some animations
  • updated driver's wardrobe
  • welded some seams, made some texture & extension adjustments
  • adjusted several exterior lights
  • adjusted several interior lights
  • added emissive foglights (thanks @Patrik Marek )

Physics
  • set up dampers IRL and then set up dampers in AC accordingly
  • amusingly small tweaks to some inertias
  • similarly minor adjustment to tire grip
  • brake temp adjustment

Installation: v1.0 contains a potentially missing font in addition to the car itself.

Delete your old copy of the car, then unpack the contents of this update archive into your AC root directory. You should be good to go. (With a working odometer if you didn't already have one.)
