This is a mod designed to accurately replicate the 1963 F1 season using the Database Editor. It includes all drivers on the grid at the time, along with the high-profile feeder series and junior drivers of the era portrayed in their 1963 selves.
The player starts as the Team Principal of Lola (Red Bull), although I believe if you want to start as a different team you can use the F1 Manager Save Browser (https://save.f1setup.it/) and use the "Switch Team" option.
The 2024 incarnations of each team in this save correspond with the following outfits that competed in the 1963 season:
Red Bull -> Lola
Ferrari stays the same
Mercedes -> Porsche
McLaren -> ATS
Alpine -> Lotus
Aston Martin -> Cooper
VCARB -> Brabham
Haas -> BRP
Williams -> Scirocco
Sauber -> BRP
Calendar
The calendar is mostly accurate to the real-life 1963 schedule with a few substitutions for tracks/countries that aren't in the game:
The French Grand Prix at Reims-Gueux has been replaced by the Red Bull Ring as the tracks are fairly similar and geographical location makes no difference in the game.
The German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring Nordschleife has been replaced by Hungary as it is the only properly twisty circuit, no track is going to match 14 kilometres and 173 or however many corners it has!
The South African Grand Prix at Kyalami has been replaced by Losail, as the tracks are in a similar region (far from Europe) and their characteristics are fairly comparable too.
Drivers and their Ratings/Contracts
The driver lineup follows the early 1963 season, meaning the drivers who did Round One will occupy full-time seats, while those who competed for a constructor in later rounds, or for a privateer outfit will be listed as affiliates for their corresponding team.
I have altered the identities of the existing drivers in the vanilla database meaning their photos haven't been changed.
All prominent drivers who took part in a Grand Prix from around 1963 are included.
I adjusted each driver's stats and ratings on a mix of where they were at in their career up to 1963 (particularly for junior series drivers), and my assessment of their talent.
If you disagree with a rating, feel free to let me know so I can see if I made a mistake, so I can update the mod to your guys' liking.
Every driver assigned to a team either on a full-time basis or by affiliate status has had their contract details automatically filled out by the Editor, as exact details from the time are hard to come by.
Notable F2 and F3 talents as well as future champions have been included to give a proper feeling of 1963, meaning that it is a reduced but still very healthy driver pool.
Please also note that due to limitations with the Database Editor, some driver's nationalities and race numbers may be incorrect.
Prominent examples include Tony Maggs and John Love who were South African and Rhodesian appear as Russian, as well as one of the Kiwi drivers being Australian.
Performance and Cars/Engines
The teams' cars and engines have been adjusted to their 1963 performance, although their identities are unchangeable.
The 1963 versions of each outfit correspond with their real-life lineage to 2024 if one exists either legitimately or loosely, for example, Lotus is Alpine.
All teams have been updated to their 1963 engine suppliers, with custom units supplied by Climax, BRM, Porsche, ATS and co.
I think that covers everything the mod has changed, if there's anything I've missed, feel free to ask.
Otherwise, download the save file, and extract/copy and paste it into the following file destination:
